HINTS & TIPS

FINDING THE RIGHT WEDDING DRESS IS PROBABLY THE MOST CRUCIAL THING FOR ANY BRIDE-TO-BE.

WHEN IT COMES TO CHOOSING A WEDDING GOWN FOR

YOUR BIG DAY, THERE ARE MANY FACTORS YOU NEED TO CONSIDER.

Knowing basic dress silhouettes and body types and also

understanding how they flatter your figure will help:

BRIDES WITH CURVES in the right places, a full chest, full hips and a

defined waistline will look good in almost any dress style.

Ladies with a LARGER CHEST, large hips and an undefined waistline

should avoid  Mermaid silhouette dresses, as well as off-the-shoulder

and spaghetti strap necklines, and rather go for a dress with a basque

waistline or a ball gown. Neckline do’s includes V-necks and straight

lines.

PEAR SHAPED BODIES should find a dress that brings balance to the

top half and bottom half, such as a ball gown. A-line skirt coupled with strapless neckline will look great.

THIN (TALL OR SHORT) BRIDES should consider mermaid, a-line or a ball gown (if you are tall). Perfect neckline options includes V-Neck, Sweetheart and Halter.

BEFORE CHOOSING A DRESS, CONSIDER ALL THE DIFFERENT SHAPES AVAILABLE:

THE A-LINE SHAPE (recommended for petite, full-figured, short waisted women) features a flared out skirt from the waist down to your feet, creating an “A” shape. The design consists of vertical seams running from the waist or shoulders down to the bottom of the skirt.

THE BASQUE WAIST is characterized by a low waistline that is generally V or U-shaped, beginning several inches below the waist. Not recommended for petite brides, but perfect for taller brides, large hips, hourglass and pear shape figures.

THE MOST TRADITIONAL and formal of all shapes, the Ball Gown is best suited for the bride in search of a classic and elegant look. The Ball Gown is characterized by a fitted bodice and a waistline that leads to a full skirt.

THE MERMAID STYLE contours to your body (similar to the sheath style), but flares out at the bottom. It has a distinctive diagonal cut on the skirt. This dress is ideal for a bride wanting to accentuate her curvaceous figure and for brides with a hourglass or boyish figure.
